Back from Gran Canaria

2 weeks I was on the road on the Canary Islands – now there is something to tell !

During the first week I was on the water with the Aida Nova around the Canary Islands. In Las Palmas it went off, then to Madeira, then to Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and back to Gran Canaria. This time I stayed one week in Playa del Ingles.

I have already done a Canary Islands cruise several times, but this time I added another week. That was a good decision. So I had the opportunity to get to know Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles and the dunes a little more intensively. One thing in advance – at the moment Gran Canaria is only conditionally suitable as a nudist destination. Except for Playa del Ingles, there are no more sunbeds on the beach. Also the famous kiosks are gone. There are already new ones there, but they are not open yet. Only one of the lounger areas was designated for nudism, meaning people just did it, the loungers are not in the designated nudist zone. However, there are only about 60-80 sunbeds there. If those are already all occupied at 10 in the morning, then you have to lie in the sand with your towel. In addition, you have to listen to the one or the other stupid saying from the numerous walkers or even risk being photographed if you go naked through the crowds to the sea. You have to be an experienced nudist, not for beginners.

During my trips with the rental car across the island, I have also found no significant alternatives. The beaches designated as “nudist beaches” in the guidebook often turned out to be a scree slope by the sea or could only be reached after a 2-hour hike. But you can make excursions to Mogan or into the countryside.
However, in the south of Gran Canaria you won’t find any lonely places anymore. Here the tourism industry is present everywhere.
Especially older people spend the winter months in Maspalomas and Gran Canaria in masses. The gastronomy has adapted strongly to this.
I felt the mass tourism on Mallorca less than on Gran Canaria. I will come back to this topic in my detailed travel report.

In the next few days I will report in detail about my trip and give you tips for nudist vacations on the Canary Islands. Of course there are also again uncensored pictures in the member-area.

Me and the Mrs have just come back 3 weeks ago from Gran Canaria,we went to the sunbed area,we had no problems. There were always beds available,I prefer to lie on the beach. It’s a busy old place, some windy days we had to lie right up to where the sand was wet, hence right by the walkers up and down the beach. But it didn’t bother us,beer or wine in hand, chilling to the waves crashing in or some tunes. Can’t wait to go back. The area was mainly occupied by Germans, but they were friendly as could be! Can’t wait to return.

    What a great report again!
Thank you for the updates. For Easter, I am looking for a good destination to have a naked holiday week. Of course, GC is one alternative as usual. Odd that there are so few sunbeds. Then, again, from my perspective it matters less: I walk naked on the beach anywhere 😉 And I seldom take a sunbed 😀 Maybe I will go to Mallorca and leave the Canaries for Christmas and New Year as usual.
